At the University of Colorado, I imaged ethnographic objects from Native American tribes. I was formally trained in object photography, including composition, lighting, and color correction. I worked with Exchangeable image file format (Exif) data captured by the camera and image editing programs to ensure that all of the data was preserved in various derivatives. I revised the digitization protocol to incorporate current standards in image resolution and file formats, and updated procedures after a database conversion. I completed an Institute of Museum and Library Services grant to upload the entire CUMNH Anthropology collections database online, available at

As the archivist at the Office of the State Archaeologist at the University of Iowa, I co-wrote and was project leader for a State Historical Resource Development Program grant to digitize the entire photograph collection. I wrote protocols on how to scan, color-correct, and derive use copies for various hard copy image formats, including prints, glass-plate and film negatives, and slides. I planned and coordinated the data export and transfer of the OSA’s photographic collection to the university’s digital library, available at https://digital.lib.uiowa.edu/islandora/object/ui%3Aosa
